had too many on percussion, so he told him to grab a trumpet and play that. He has been playing trumpet ever since.
Erik has studied classical trumpet starting in high school with private lessons ever since his high school band teacher Jodi Galdestone found out he wanted to study music in college. She ended up paying for his lessons because she believed in him. He studied with Matt Fronke. He later went to Long Beach City College. He studied under Ray Nowak while there. Although Ray was his trumpet instructor, he had many teachers at LBCC help him grow as a musician. He was a part of the Wind ensemble, Viking show band, chamber groups, and the orchestra at LBCC. Erik Received his AA degree from LBCC and was ready for transfer to a 4-year University. He auditioned for Cal state Northridge, Cal State Fullerton, and Cal State Long Beach. He was accepted by each school for their music program, but he decided to study music at The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music (Cal State Long Beach).
While Erik was at CSULB he studied with Rob Frear, Dan Fornero, and Ryan Darke. Each teacher had a huge impact on Erik. They each helped him grow so much as a musician. He also took piano classes for two years while at the conservatory, and learned guitar and ukulele on his own. Erik currently lives in
Canoga Park California with his wife and enjoys the area very much.
